Groundnut Chutney


This is one of the simple recipes from Kongu Nadu cuisine. Easy to prepare and very delicious. Ground nuts are rich in energy and good source of vitamin E. It goes very well with plain rice and can be had with wheat/rice dosa too.


Cook Time : 20 mins, Serves : 3

Ingredients :
1 cup groundnut
2 tablespoon Dhania/coriander seeds
2 red chillies
Tamarind (small gooseberry size)

For seasoning (Optional) :
Oil - 2 tea spoons
Mustard - 1/2 teaspoon
Few curry leaves

Method :
1. Dry roast the groundnut in medium flame until it is slightly brown in color say for 10 to 15 mins; Allow it to cool down.
2. Remove the skin roughly with hands (It needs little patience) and add it to a food processor.
3. Now add the in the dhania, red chillies and tamarind together in a food processor with required amount of salt. Add enough water to grind it to a smooth paste.
4. In a small pan add oil, when its hot add mustard; Let it splutter and add the curry leaves. Add this to the ground paste. (This step is optional if you are conscious in adding oil).
