Garlic Rice


I learned this recipe from my friend Madhu who learned it from her mother. It is so delicious and very easy to cook.

Garlic plays a vital role in our Indian cooking. There is no need to mention about it's health benefits. This rice can be had all by itself.

Preparation Time : 5 mins. Cook Time : 20 mins. Serves : 2

Ingredients :
1 1/2 cups rice
1 entire bulb of garlic
1/4 teaspoon of red chilli powder
1/2 tomato
Salt to taste

To Season :
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds + urad dal
Few curry leaves

Preparation :
1. Separate all the cloves from a garlic bulb and remove the skin off.
2. In a food processor add all the ingredients starting from garlic into a fine paste without any water.

Method :
1. Cook the rice with 3 cups of water. Keep it away and let it cool down for sometime.
3. Add oil in a pan, when it is hot add mustard seeds. When it pops, add the curry leaves and then the ground paste. Stir it well until the paste separates from oil at least for 10 mins.
5. Mix it with rice.

Note : You can also refrigerate the ground paste for later use.
